Christmas Day shout out!

Well...Christmas will soon is upon us...... I have a house full of people (5/6 Christmas Eve, Christmas Day...increasing to 8/9 Boxing Day and the 27th December).

I am dreading it as it will mean several days without any personal space, or quiet time or escape from NTs doing their thing. They will enjoy their traditions and I will be ASD serving wench making sure that everyone has a good time, but inside i will be struggling to cope.

This is a shout out...as I am going to need some help to get me through without a tantrum, shutdown or meltdown.

Is there anyone else about during the Christmas break who is planning to be online ......it would help a great deal to keep me on an even keel!

thank you

Ellie

  • Things don't go according to plan. My mom joined us this year. 80 years old. Last year she didn't come, this year she wanted to come again. So we're five. Two teenagers included. They have the smartphone on and are not really there.

I'm almost sure my mom has it too. I called her at 11 this morning. Plan was to get her in the afternoon, but she insisted on me getting her immediately. She talks a lot. She talks about people. Grandchildren of people I only know because they happen to be her neighbors, their vacations, switching back to uncles I haven't seen in five years. And their experiences with going to the hospital and their struggle with diabetes. She's always been hard to follow. Jumping from one subject to the other, never finishing a thought... a word in the middle of a sentence would often become the subject of a totally new story... I also get very often the question why I don't finish my sentences... a bit confronting...

My wife doesn't have it easy either. I cooked. Simple, same as always. paté for starters, Stuffed bird,

Mouilleux and icecream is still awaiting. Packages still left to unpack... The best is yet to come...

My wife is Romanian, she has the tradition of celebrating on the 25th, we on the 24th, I blocked the kitchen from her. Now she's a bit disappointed. I told her, for me christmas means bird... if she wants it different, I wouldn't take it bad. I'll put myself a reminder for 20th of december 2018: think of your wife, skip the 24th, help her to make it a wonderful 25th... They have good food also, stuffed wineleaves... mjam...
