" The topic for this week (Wednesday 18th January - Tuesday 24th January) is the transition from school to adult life. "
Will NAS make a UK and NI "wide net" database of Support Services available to autists transitioning into adult life upon leaving education and autists already in adult life who are struggling, that can be accessed by the public, to search not just for smaller orgs but also counsellors, autism friendly therapists, mental health teams, but also groups within their local areas to help end the suffering of autist isolation?
Hi A swarm of bees called Sam they/them,
Thankyou for your great question.
That is a great idea! Whilst it is not Transition specific, we currently have the Autism Services Directory where you can find links to a wide variety of services that have told us they have experience of Autism. You can find the Autism Services Directory here https://www.autism.org.uk/directory
You may also be interested in our Transition Support Service Helpline. The transition support helpline/case work service provides advice and support to young autistic people and their families on making the transition from school, further or higher education to adult life. They would be able to help autistic people transitioning to adult life look at what services may be available to them in their area or virtually. You can find the contact details for this service here https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/help-and-support/transition-support-service
Best wishes,
The Transition Support Team
