Query about daughters trigger

Hi,

I have an 11 yr old autistic and inattentive adhd daughter.

She loves scary films but if someone doesn't get rescued by another character because something happens too quickly or it is too far away for the other character to do anything about it creates a huge meltdown.

Examples would be when Katniss Everdean watches Finnick die in the Hunger Games or when Joyce watches Bob die in Stranger Things.

The meltdowns spiral into would you save me Mummy if that happened to me. When I try and explain why the other character couldn't get there in time she thinks I am saying I wouldn't save her and gets really distressed.

How can I help her understand that the other character isn't not doing anything because they don't care, are a bad person or are lazy?

Any advice would be really great.

Thanks

Emma

I would point out that it is just a story - something made up for shock value so ignore it.

It is a legitimate real world fear I guess and something she may need to come to terms with eventually. Perhaps a child psychologist would be a good option to help her deal with this.
