The courts have questioned the methodology of previous studies by the same person, and came to the conclusion that they are not sound. So that doesn’t give me confidence for this latest study either. 

I’m not sure that almost every woman took paracetamol during pregnancy. It is possible, but I would have thought that many women would have been reluctant to take any medication during pregnancy, but perhaps the women were picked because they took paracetamol. I don’t have confidence that the methodology is robust.

They claim neither causality or corrolation, only an association. Their conclusion states:

Our analyses using the Navigation Guide thus support evidence consistent with an association between acetaminophen exposure during pregnancy and increased incidence of NDDs.

It is important not to read into something that doesn't exist. This could be confirmation bias which is important to use strict checks against in research.

The methodology is a standard in research as far as I'm aware. Can you explain how it is defective please?

I'm actually with the majority in being sceptical that a drug is the cause, but if it makes it more probable the child will be ND then the fact there is connection could lead to a better understanding of what mechanism the drug it triggering.

I try to explain with simpler words. 

Paracetamol is currently the first treatment for every health issue in UK. I bet that almost every woman took Paracetamol during pregnancy. Even if this study is confirmed, you could not say if Paracetamol was the cause of autism (quite unlikely) or mothers had other health conditions (NHS states "Paracetamol is the first choice of painkiller if you're pregnant. It's commonly taken during pregnancy and does not harm your baby." -https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/paracetamol-for-adults/pregnancy-breastfeeding-and-fertility-while-taking-paracetamol-for-adults/ ). 

So, the study is saying that statistically mothers of autistic babies experienced pain (for the most different reasons). It is almost the same of saying that the patient died because their heart stop beating. 

Maybe, if NHS would stop recommending to use Paracetamol for everything, and they would start investigating the issues instead of covering the symptoms, we may have more detailed correlations that could help serious researches.

I’m not sure that’s true about paracetamol not being available off prescription in UK until 1988. I’ll research that now.

Well, you know what they say, "It pays to keep an open mind, but not so open that your brain falls out."

RFK Jr. has only been encouraging the attitude that a dead child is better than an Autistic child. Whether it be by shunning measles vaccination or giving encouragement to the proponents of bleach therapy.

I knew Trump suggested injecting bleach for covid, before being shut down for it, but I didn't know this was being used for autism. Some people are really mental, parents who believe that should have thier children immediately removed from their "care" as they're far to dangerous to be left to bring up something as precious as a child.

What is it with America and finding causes or stopping something by a certain random date? If the cause of autism had been lying in a corner somewhere dont' they think that it would of been found by now and exploited by drug companies? ND is complicated, it's probably something well within the normal human genetic range, yes some people are more affected than others, but most of us do Ok and would do better if people stopped interfearing with us and actually helped instead of treating us as a problem.

Maybe the mothers who took paracetamol had undiagnosed autism and were more likely to take paracetamol to deal with pain than non-autistic mothers, so genetically they may have been more likely to give birth to an autistic baby? 

Whether the issue is conflict of interest, politics, less than rigorous science or something else, there is not evidence to suggest paracetamol causes autism. 

ChatGPT is insisting that paracetamol was made available without prescription (i.e., over-the-counter (OTC) in pharmacies) in the UK in the 1963 and was placed on the general sales list in 1983 (e.g., available in supermarkets). Is that a hallucination?

The whole MMR thing make me very wary of anything like this.

And even if there is a correlation it doesn't mean causation, as other's have said. If there is a genetic link then ND parents are more likely to have ND kids, and ND kids are therefore more likely to have ND parents. And maybe ND people for some reason are more likely to take paracetamol when they are pregnant? That would lead to a correlation between taking paracetamol in pregnancy and having a ND kid, but in no way would it be the cause.

Yup, it’s a serious problem. I’ve heard of Miracle Mineral Solution before and can’t believe anyone thought that was a good idea.

I was going to joke about lemon flavoured bleach for Autistic fussy eaters, but really this is too serious.

Parents have been giving bleach to their children to cure autism for some time now. "Bleach therapy" is a thing. There have been many injuries and deaths. NAS has been fighting this for years.

Oh RFK Jr. what a guy. I can’t wait until he states that drinking bleach is the cure.

I believe there is no exact cause you either have it or you don’t but I do believe it is genetic. I go to an autism hub and most members there have a sibling or a parent on the spectrum.
