    Hi Sez

it is possible that you have been misdiagnosed with BPD. This is quite a common thing to happen to undiagnosed people with ASD. Also, the fact that your anxiety and depression haven't responded to medication is also a common thing in ASD people. Some people find that an understanding of their ASD is the key that can unlock a much better balanced life that can be free of medication, depression etc.

It isn't really possible to be sure whether you have asd on your own. The free aq test can suggest it but you need a doctor to really confirm this. I self diagnosed myself in the first place but I didn't really take it very seriously until I was diagnosed. At that point I suddenly felt that I could start to understand what was going on.

  • Hi Sez, I am undiagnosed, but have decided for myself that I have asd. I have had loads of advice and suggestions from people here, they are a lovely bunch of people. There are on line questionnaires too that can help you decide. Read a bit about it and see if it fits you. Tell us how you get on. Smile

  • finding it rele hard not knowing if I have asd or not.

  • Hi Sez,

You have had a really tough time. you could give your body and mind a rest and put motherhood on hold for a couple of years while you discover who you are. Lots of us start our family in our 30s now.

There is a website about aspergers in women by Tania Marshall. It may help you decide, whether  you are on the spectrum. She has a positive approach, that helped me come to terms with who I am.

It can be morale boosting to try and find answers for your self, not just be at the mercy of  the professionals. You can consult a proffessional  but, it's your life, you can take control.

You will also find lots of support here. I have.

    Good luck

  • Hi Sez - you have certainly had a lot of bad things to deal with, especially for someone so young.  I can understand why you don't want anything else bad to happen to you.  Have you can support?   It is important that you get a correct diagnosis.  A correct diagnosis can be helpful to an individual.  Therefore it's important to get other conditions  checked out just in case they apply to you.  Once you have a complete diagnosis. which may or may not be autism, then you can hopefully get on with your life with more self knowledge.  There are many posts on here from individuals letting us know how they felt about being diagnosed so have a look if you want to.  Posters are supportive + understand what it's like to go through the diagnostic process so ask any questions you want + they will try to help.  Loads of info via the home pg also. Smile
