Not looking forward to extreme heat

It is just about reaching as hot as I can bear, towards the upper 20s. If we get extreme heat for a few days I get through it by thinking that it will be over soon. At the moment next week is predicted to be around 30 all week and often the prediction gets higher as it gets closer.

I like to be outside at least some of each day, but I am not sure there will be much that is bearable.

I am hoping they have got it wrong and it reduces sooner than Monday week.

  • When the heat is at it's worse I will avoid travelling.  At most i will take a walk in the local woods.

I remember 25 years ago on a day trip to Morecambe by train.   we got there in the morning OK.  We had a pleasant warm summers day.  On the trip home we had to change trains in Lancaster.  As soon as I got off the train in Lancaster, the heat hit me.  It was like walking into an oven. The place was in chaos. There were speed restrictions on the railways because of the heat and delays and cancellations everywhere.   Massive crowds were standing around with suitcases not knowing what was happening.   A train arrived at one platform,  there were no public announcements and the electronic display at that platform remained blank.  People were asking the passengers who were getting off the train where this train was going.
