I want some nice weather, not all this horrible hot stuff

I want snow, lots of snow, I want icicles dangling from the eaves, I want to be so cold at night the air rings like the after note of a bell, I want to see the stars in all their glory, I want to have blankets on my bed, lots of them, even if it's cold enough a duvet. I want to wear jumpers and thick socks, I want warming winter soups and stews. I want the energy thats so intense I have to run up and down stairs a few times to get rid of some, I want the deep sleep that comes with not being overheated.

I know for may of you this will be anathema, but I can't cope with all this hot, the letheragy, the sleeplessness, the sweating, wondering if Fearn will overheat when we go out for a walk, the smell of BBQ's that make me feel sick.

I miss the sound of wind and rain, not storms but normal wind and rain.

  • Try internet shopping, get the supermarket to deliver everything to your door.

  • I got shouted at this afternoon whilst I was out with Fearn, apparently this woman said hello to me and I didn't hear her, but she managed to tell me how rude she thought I was in a loud enough voice and said again that I was rude for "being in my own little world" and not hearing her. I left at that point, Fearn only had half a walk, because I couldn't cope with any more ignorance from strangers and I was struggling to stay on my feet as I felt unwell from the heat.

If I could stand being cooped up at home, I think I'd become agoraphobic, I'm having to censor where I go so much, because it's school holidays and everywhere is busy, even more so because the council and highways dept have decided to cone off loads of roads for no apparent reason. That and I have to keep reminding myself that there are hardly any shops to go to anymore, I just hope I don't have to venture into Bangor before september and that my toothpaste lasts that long!

  • Completely agree with you there. I’m saving up for a meaco fan as they are actually very good and cooling, not just blowing the hot air around

  • Ugh tell me about it! Why can’t people just respect that not everyone likes summer? I wouldn’t mind if I had a swimming pool to jump into but I don’t haha! And the nearest public one is like an hours drive away, plus it’s even more busy with screaming kids during the holidays. In fact everywhere just has screaming kids in summer holidays lol! I used to love summer holidays when I was a kid and teen but now I’m the complete opposite since I left school haha! I’m meant to be going on holiday with my dad in September so hopefully that will lift my spirits! Haven’t had a proper holiday since before corona! I mean I had London and jersey island since lockdown but still ha

  • I'm starting to feel really rough, the weather's really getting to me and all the people holidaying here, there's herds of them, I can't cope, I feel really tearful, angry and frustrated, it's so noisy and theres no getting away from it.

  • Me too, I hate being shouted at for it too, we're all supposed to be happy shiney people when the sun shines and the weather's hot. This weather is really making me ache terribly. I don't know where the forecasters are getting their data from, but its way hotter than they said it was going to be. They say they're more accurate, but it still feel a bit think of a number and double it.

  • Safe to say I have real bad summer depression

  • You must live in a different area to me. It's another heatwave for my area this weekend.

  • Finally it's cooled down.   I manage to sleep this afternoon.

  • I like it when it's nice but not scorching hot. I wish it was spring because it can be sunny but not too warm and I get rain some days, whilst I get to watch everything grow and colour up again.

This heat is unbearable especially at night. It's felt never ending and it looks like it will be hot for the rest of the week.

I'm looking forward to some rain and cooler weather.

  • Agreed, though not to that degree. Year round spring and fall would be nice IMO. Get me that nice, breathable air and low humidity index.

  • Yep that proper snow, theres usually more snow on the mainland and at the other end of the island than here, the first winter I was here we were snowed in for about 3 weeks, I almost ran out of chocolate!!!

I find windows open means I hear more of my neighbours than I'd like and smell them too with thier stinking BBQ's, I'm a bit of a fresh air freak and like the windows open during the day, but it can be unbearable from the noise, the smells and traffic. Why do so many people have speakers in thier car that broadcast their phone calls to the street, I mean I can hear both sides of the conversation!.

I think I just suffering from the unrelenting sunshine the last few days, Cloudy weather is much more restful for my eyes.

  • Snowed In - half-past December - one year, not long ago.

  • I love a bit of snow, but my mother hated it.  She was born in rural south eastern Poland, where they had real winters and people really suffered during harsh winters in the 1920s and 30s  Snow was several feet deep and people had to dig themselves out of their homes in the morning.

  • It's snow, but not proper snow, I mean deep white fluffy stuff, I love walking on new snow, hearing it crunch and squeek underfoot.

I love watching cats and dogs encounter snow for the first time, a cat I had many years ago, would dance with it, old penny sized flakes fell and tickled his ears and he tried to bat them away and ended looing like he was at a rave, all he needed was a bit of Faithless. Cats often look really offended that their gardens gone white, they tip toe round the edges shaking the snow from their paws, they look really offended when it melts and what they thought was burried is exposed.

Dogs will often run around barking at snow and seem to like playing with it, catching snowballs etc, thier faces when the "ball" they've just caught melts in their mouths is so funny.

  • Think of the planet! (And think of the fact that where many of us are, we'd only get the use of it for about three days a year. The rest of the time it's raining.)

  • I feel like I might be the odd one out in this thread. I'm enjoying the hot weather. I really feel the cold and spend most of my life cold so it is nice to experience some heat. My home is quite good at keeping itself relatively cool so I'm not experiencing too many problems with sleep etc. I'm also off work for the summer so I can decide how long I want to spend in the heat. I do kind of miss wearing a hoodie though. I do so love a hoodie.

I do like snow but only if it properly snows and it's nice and thick which is unfortunately rare where I live. I also do not like having to drive in any kind of snowy/icy weather so I do not appreciate it if I have to go to work.

  • Tell me about it! Seriously if I could I really would create my own world and live the life of my dreams! Escape all the news and gossips etc

  • I've also suffered in this hot weather. A few weeks ago while walking in the countryside looking at the water levels in local reservoirs,  I got bitten.  I never saw what bit me, but when I got home my arm was swollen around a bite wound and it itched for weeks.

  • Joy I get it, some online worlds appeal more than this one!
