Difficulties making friends

Hi everyone, does anyone want to chat and possibly be friends? I try so hard to find people to talk with but I just don’t fit or belong anywhere or that’s how it feels. I’d love to chat to people here as I feel understood here but sadly people don’t seem to stay as they leave quickly and I don’t understand why. If you’d like to chat, please message me.     If you are looking to make friends with other members, then I would urge you to take on board the suggestion has made to contribute to the forums. Through engaging in forum discussions, you can gradually start to build up a rapport with other members, based on shared interests or other things that you may have in common.

    I can only speak for myself, but I tend to be wary about chatting with and making friends with members without getting to know them first via forum discussions, and feeling that there is a mutual rapport.

  • Regarding this forum I've had a few experiences here of people I got a sense of rapport with suddenly disappearing. Recently I heard that someone in particular just didn't feel right about being here. A few years ago someone else I friended here just disappeared. They said they were having a bad breakdown but as this was 2020 and he was in a hospital, I do fear that covid got him. 

    Meanwhile a real life friend here wrote back recently to say she had no time for friends as she was facing a very serious cancer operation. She said she would be back in touch once things were less critical. It did seem just a little dismissive, but maybe it is the loss of control that serious illness brings. 

    I have a handful of students where there is a good rapport, but things to tend to happen to people. I find socialising tiring and it csn be a strain quite often though.

    hope you are well. I enjoy cycling and being out on the local moors in the quiet. I go litter picking as well. I read a lot, non fiction. I drive a classic vehicle and enjoy looking after this.

    Some people come here and leave quickly........some people stay.  I guess it depends on what they are hoping to find here.

    I did not come here looking for friends, but I have found some - and that is GREAT !

    I have really big problems finding friends normally because I am very odd.

    I think that, if you want to find friends here, the best thing to do is start contributing on the many threads that pop up every day.  Leave your thoughts and see who reacts to them.

    Generally, I don't enjoy "chat" but hope we can exchange a comment together somewhere within a thread of mutual interest.
