What I am trying to find out, is, what is the technical term when lyrics in a song are repeated like an echo about a second later.

An example is the Mama's and Papas song California Dreaming, where they sing "All the leaves are brown", then they repeat it like an echo a second later.

The Everly Brothers - Wings Of A Nightingale.

I first heard The Everly Brothers music when I was 7 years old. I was sat in my Gran's front room by the fire and she played their record that featured this song and I was lost in the music before I even realised it. I remember thinking what a lovely sound their voices made when joined. 

It's sad the world has nothing like these two anymore.
