I'm glad you like Aldous Harding.
I also like that they do subtle things with minor chord inflections not in the original but that put a bit more bite into it. Most notably, on the repeat of 'mind'
I'm glad you said that because I prefer the Pet Shop Boys version too. I find it more uplifting. No offence intended to Luna.
......I think you meant to say the Poo Shop Boys improved it?! Keep the spirit!
Always on my mind by Elvis Presley.
Thanks for introducing Aldous Harding to my ears. I have spent a couple of chilled hours with her singing - she feels her music!
Two of my current favorite songs are:
Tamino with Cigar:https://youtu.be/VFBwYKfnJw0
and
Aldous Harding with The Barrel: https://youtu.be/QyZeJr5ppm8

Christmas Canon - the trans siberian orchestra
Voices of angels, so sweet I love this song.
Now forever associated in my head with the Doctor Who episode Love & Monsters. A very marmite episode, but I love it. www.youtube.com/watch
Wombling Merry Christmas by The Wombles :)
Oh silly me I meant Naked Gun. The Leslie Nielsen film. Meanwhile, in a similar humorous brass vein there’s this https://youtu.be/_-OM7Z4CchY I think when they played this live they’d rig the tubas to start putting more and more soap bubbles into the air.
It's been years since I last watched Police Academy, but I'll have to keep an eye out for that when I next do.
Ha! That always reminds me of the fate of the villain in police academy. Falls from a height, gets steamrollered, and then a marching band tramps over the top of him playing that number. Harrowing stuff.
André Rieu - Seventy-Six Trombones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgYyBwnCDPo
This always gets played at the beginning of his concerts as he and the orchestra are making their way to the stage. It always makes me smile when I hear it because it's such a jolly and uplifting piece of music.
It's one of my Christmas favourites too Luna.
Slight side-bar but I’d love to know what a particular song at the end of a documentary trailer is as I’d like to hear the whole thing. Just watched the film itself (which is very beautiful and moving, for a nerd like me anyway) but no clues there as it doesn’t feature. But if anyone happens to know… it’s playing in the last half a minute of this:
