Top 10 SF movie favourites

Hey.

What are your favourite SF movies ever?

Here are mine, in no particular order:

Moon. Directed by Duncan Jones, David Bowie's son

Blade Runner. The first one, that is, though I enjoyed the 2049 too.

Brooding, noir. The book if anything is even better.

Logan' Run  Yes I know, an oldie. But it sticks in the mind. Time is short.

.........and never more so than with Never Let me Go. An idyllic boarding school is where the spare-part clones grow up

Space Odyssey 2001. Yes I know computers evelved way beyond this stage

The Time Machine. Very innovative shooting for the, erm,  time.

Alien. Despite all the prequels and sequels, this is still the absolute best

Quatermass and the Pit. Good and spooky.

Solaris The second one. How not to make first contact.

Ex Machina. Here, the CEO who plays Feletto really an absolute jerk, all said and done.

Agree or not? What are your favourites?

  • So many others Jurassic park, actually I'm going to stop because I could go on all night. Judge dredd, demolition man, all cool concepts, they live, the fly oh my god I can't stop Nexus9 what have you started!!!!!

    10. MATRIX

    9. Robo cop

    8. Blade runner

    7. Total recal

    6.Predictor

    5. Terminator

    4. Alien

    3. Conan

    2. Mad max

    1. Star wars

  • That's good too but if you hate disco music (the 70's) it will make watching it a real challenge, you could always turn the sound down at those parts I guess, there is just so much of it.

  • Some of my favourites here too, another for me is 'Interstellar', directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Mathew McConaughey (a very underrated actor) Anne Hathaway.

It is one of the most beautifully sad (if that makes sense) movies for me that often I can't watch it even if I want to,  I've watched it 6 times though which is a low amount for me, I'd like to watch it more. It also has a great soundtrack.

  • Terry Nation was behind Survivors, he who first conceived of the Daleks

  • I have not come across survivors.. I'll see if I can find it and give it a watch.. I have very early memories of Dr who and being so scared and I mean really scared..!! I have a funny association these days with early Dr and hammer house of horrors.. peculiar..!!

  • I didn't really get into Sapphire and Steele. Dr Who was a staple for the whole family until I left home to study at uni.

Remember Survivors?  I really got into that

  • I do enjoy Trek.

One thing I haven't got round to watching is The Martian, I have heard it's good

  • Galaxy Quest

    The Fifth Element

    Star Wars ep.4 - A New Hope

The Day The Earth Stood Still (original one)

Star Trek IV - The Journey Home

    Star Trek - First Contact

Star Trek - the reboot with Chris Pine from 2009

    Surrogates (Bruce Willis)

    The Martian

    Moon (Sam Rockwell)

  • A very nice comprehensive list.. lots of my favourites there..!! I remember my first sf experience was sapphire and steel when I was about 6 or 7 and have not looked back since.. sf is the best..
