Hi Temple,
Just to let you know we've now changed the name on the community - you should log in with your normal details and we think the change will take affect as soon as you do that. Any problems or if it doesn't work we'll take a look at on Monday.
As to the tickets, you'll pick them up at the venue, an email should be going out, or should have just gone out, explaining the process to everyone.

i think your a kind person and i am sorry for the way i have acted i am very shamed of myself.
Never be ashamed of yourself, Temple. You are who you are. I have never felt you were being insulting to me, personally, so please don't think that I do. And, if you've found some of my posts insulting, then I apologise for that - they were certainly not meant that way.
i think it's just me not understanding things and bring things in that just isn't there.

Scorpion0x17 said:There is also the point of possible confusion within these forums, as I originally pointed out, and will reiterate here:
If I type "Temple Grandin said 'X, Y, Z'" - it is not clear whether I mean 'our Temple Grandin' or 'Dr Temple Grandin'.
Now one could say that one could just be more careful about specifying which 'Temple Grandin' one means.
However, what about new members?
Should we have to keep on initiating them into the whole 'Dr' vs 'our' issue?
Or would the easier solution simply be to change 'our Temple Grandins' username?!

If individuals are finding each other difficult then it's usually best to make an effort to be especially understanding on a forum, as opposedyopicking apart what people have said or descending into some of the terms like 'attention seeking' present ichange exchange.
So, we'll change the name and it's probably best if we move past this.
will do.

use your brain.
Might I suggest that comments such as that are uncalled for, Temple.
i'm sorry for upsetting you.
You didn't upset me, Temple.
I was just pointing out that there is no need for insulting language (which telling someone to "use your brain" is).
i think you have been more then insulting to me if you ask me but hey what do i know but i will say sorry again because you will say i'm insulting you by saying you have been insulting me.

I'll be back in London on Thursday where I can make the change and check on the tickets. Hope you, and everyone else, is enjoying the bank holiday

Jim V - mod said:Hi all,
Just to say we're happy to change the name but the lweek few weeks of tech problems have delayed this, as will the bank holidays for the next few days.
But as Hope says, it's really just asuggestion - I think implying that there was some confusion over the event feels a bit uncalled for, after all I don't think there is an real confusion so let's avoid anything that feels diminishing of other users.
I'll check with our events organiser on Thursday when I'm back in work and confirm when tickets are normally sent out Temple.
Still think Tewile could work as a name that shows your affection for Dr. Grandin without being confusing but your call on the name change.
thank you any user name will do thank you for taking the time for finding the info for me about the tickets.
I didn't know who Temple Grandin was until until this debate happened, but i think it's very confusing to follow.
It does appear the Temple Grandin is a user on this forum, rather than someone who respects Temple Grandin uses this forum.
There is also the point of possible confusion within these forums, as I originally pointed out, and will reiterate here:

I was worried my expressing my concerns might be viewed by the moderators as inappropriate criticism.
The point I was making though concerns people accessing these postings through searching the web for references to Temple Grandin, such as the film or UK events. They may not realise that Temple Grandin in this case is not THE Temple Grandin.
Some of OUR Temple Grandin's postings have been very personal to our Temple Grandin, concerning her mental health, bipolar disorder and other things which have no relevance to the real Temple Grandin. That's where I feel there might be significant confusion.
And its not whether Dr Temple Grandin herself knows that OUR Temple Grandin is just someone else's user name, its what people reading these postings might think.
This is something I do feel the moderators ought to address because there may be legal issues as a consequence.

Does it really matter what 'Temple Grandin' calls herself? I am not deceived by it and I think this is a pointless piece of pedantry, if I may say so. I think Temple might be feeling a bit upset, hence her silly comment. But I think she has a right to be abit disgruntled because this is a trifling matter

longman said:Ah, right. It's just that there's a real Dr Temple Grandin and someone using Temple Grandin as a user name on here - like a sort of tribute band, except a tribute band usually celebrates the original rather than just using the connection as attention seeking.
I thought, to respect other users, this name was going to be changed to something less confusing. Particularly as many of us respect Dr Temple Grandin highly, and these posts are accessible on the web generally, and may be perceived by outsiders who don't know what is going on as an attempt to denigrate and defame Dr Temple Grandin.
