Horrible letter from community mental health team [Removed by Moderator] Merseyside

I have received a letter from them after cancelling an appointment as I couldn't face going back there. Their staff have no understanding of autism at all and they have made my mental health worse. They won't accept this or take any responsibility. The letter says it is written by 'autism experts' and isn't 'intended to be patronising'. It is written in very simple language you would use to a small child. I am a grown adult and parent, I am of normal intelligence and have no issues understanding complex information. This letter has really upset me, they have just assumed that I am not able to understand complex information and must be addressed really slowly. I almost feel like this is discrimination of some sort. The letter is unsigned.

  • Dear Online Community users,

Thank you for participating in this discussion.

After reviewing the thread, we have decided to lock it due to breaches of our Community Rules. Specifically Rule 2, which asks users not to share personal or identifying details about yourself or anyone else and Rule 7, which requires respectful engagement and prohibits personal attacks or rudeness toward other members.

We understand that users may wish to share difficult experiences, and we aim to support open and honest dialogue. However, it’s important that this is done in a way that respects others and maintains the supportive nature of the community.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a respectful and supportive environment.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello.

I understand your frustration and I'm sorry you are struggling.

Perhaps this is to protect you. If people know where you have been or are being treated, they can identify you. As you recognise, you are vulnerable. It would sensible to try to protect yourself.

Of course you are free to complain about your experience of the service.

As an aside, it could not be slander as that applies to speech. Defamation through the written word is libel, but only applies to false statements. Anything true is fine.

  • You really have no clue

I'll break my rule and reply here - I'm sorry you are offended. Can we leave it at that?

    I will leave you alone.
  • I mean do you even have experience of mental health services? And experience of having a mental health diagnosis and life long complex trauma? Or do you just sit in your armchair or behind a keyboard giving out your advice and talking down to people. I was hoping others who have had similar experiences could maybe share so I don't feel so isolated.

    You really have no clue

  • I never asked for your recommendations. I asked for empathy and understanding and you tried to say I could be sued for slander. I am very vulnerable and don't need to hear that. I am intelligent and experienced enough to know that talk of slander is nonsense though ha

  • I don't need to be lectured to by some know it all with an empathy bypass.

There is no need to be insulting - I can see you are not willing to hear my recommendations so I will leave you alone.

  • Do you know what this forum is quite happy to let your bullying posts stay when it's obvious I am vulnerable. I don't need to be lectured to by some know it all with an empathy bypass.

  • It's not slander It's the TRUTH

  • I haven't slandered anyone. I am telling the truth as a patient of them. Perhaps they can sue me for slander. I have an ongoing complaint with the Parliamentary ombudsman they are so awful.

  • I'm familiar with Trustpilot thanks. I don't need you to explain to me how it works. The NHS isn't a company. It is a vital service that can mean the difference between life and death for some people. If people don't get the right help or are failed, this can have serious consequences for themselves and their families. I live in a very deprived area where there are many social problems. People who should be getting the mental health support they need are turning to substances instead to cope.

I was trying to discuss this as I think it is a serious wider issue.  Sadly you seem to have missed this.

    Please don't post again

  • NHS by the way. Hope you don't mind being corrected

No, I was correct. I was talking about this forum protecting itself by being sued by the company you were complaining about.

You potentially slandered them on here and allowing it to remain would make NAS liable for hosting the slander.

    Don't patronise me Ian.

I wasn't suggesting you stop posting here. The TrustPilot site is all about peoples experiences with companies - have a look if you are unclear.

This means anyone looking for reviews of the company would potentially see your review of them.

It is a bit like writing a product review on Amazon - it becomes almost a public information alert if there is an issue with it.

I apologise if my comments upset you. It was intended to point you to a place you can make this point and reach people who may be considering using their service.

Please continue as part of the community here - I'm sorry if I inadvertently upset you.

  • I'm going to report this post for telling me I should post elsewhere. What a horrible thing to say

  • Well I contacted them regarding the letter. They refuse to tell me who had written or actioned the letter. Just said it was written by multiple teams. No apology or responsibility taken but they don't do that anyway.

  • NHS by the way. Hope you don't mind being corrected Wink

  • Don't patronise me Ian.  Sued for defamation don't make me laugh. You can Google the place and see all the reviews left by unhappy patients, including the mother of a man who tried to committ suicide after being discharged from one of their wards.
