Autistic Adult - Trouble Sleeping

Hello,

For the last 2 or so weeks, I have been trouble sleeping at night. I have my favourite pillow case, but, my actual pillow inside would not stay "right". By this i mean, that it loses its "comfyness" (does that make sense??). I have to shake the pillow 5x upper side, 5x bottom side, 5x left hand side and finally, 5x on the right hand side. I have 3 pillows all made of the same material (cotton, which uusally get on with) and all my pillow cases are also made of cotton as well. I was my pillow cases regularly. My current pillows are non machine washable. My Bedsheet and duvet are also made of cotton and are also washed regularly. Im not sure, (but its entirely possible) that the stuff inside all the pillows are coming apart, but then, could could the cotton be my "new" iritation sensitivity? If this is the case, does it seem odd / strange that this only happens with my bed stuff and, is it "normal" for a material that you like, suddenly iritates you to the point that its making you not sleep and being close to a meltdown because of it?

Any advice would be greatly welcomed,

Thanks

  • Hi,

It has taken many years to learn what I need to get a reliable sleep pattern. Although sleep when over stressed, anxiety and heat have yet to be mastered. One thing is a good bed and bedding.

I have wear in the bones of my neck and this led to finding a better pillow. This in turn led to wool filled pillows. It is supportive (after I firmed it up by buying a bag of extra wool pills), cool in summer and warm in winter. This led to buying a wool mattress topper feels great and which has helped with a hip problem. Recently we went for a wool duvet. It is in 2 parts summer and spring/autumn which combine for winter use. It nicely heavy, warm and comfortable. All washable.

A big bonus is that wool does not clump like feathers do when used or washed.

They are not cheap but the 2 big UK providers do have sales.
