Hi,
I'm the mum of a 15-year-old autistic boy and, like many parents, I'm trying to navigate the challenges that come with adolescence, education and planning for adulthood.
My son is a thoughtful and caring young man who would like friendships and greater independence, but finding the right opportunities and peer connections has not always been easy. As he gets older, he is becoming increasingly aware of the world around him and sometimes worries about what the future might hold.
I'm hoping to connect with other parents and autistic adults who can share experiences, advice and perhaps some positive examples of how life can develop after school. I'm particularly interested in hearing about friendships, college, employment, independence and what has helped young people build happy and fulfilling lives.
I look forward to learning from the community and sharing experiences with others on a similar journey.
