Could anyone share their experience of burnout?

Hello,

I am a first-time poster but long-time lurker…I feel a bit uncomfortable posting because I’ve never done this before nor do I know anyone here but I’d really appreciate advice/hearing about others’ experiences please because I’m struggling.

How long have people here experienced autistic burnout for?

  • I'd also been hanging around trying to pluck up the courage to type something, anything. I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling.

For me, I think it manifested and built up itself over several months and lasted for about 18mths at its worst. I'm convinced I still experience it due to regressed memories and sensory overwhelm that at times takes me back to past triggers. I was in a high pressure job, moved house (again), suffered a r'ship breakdown, human & furry deaths in the family & unhelpful MH support. I also like Ann :) and had GI issues. This happened 4yrs ago and I only realise now it was autistic burnout. Its all or nothing for me, always has been that probably didn't help. What did help a little was my v close friend, helpful NHS support & my cat. I have only been diagnosed recently, so in the last few years I've had lots of diagnosis but I'm sure they were the result of being Autistic and having no bloody idea so the closest match will do ?!

I hope you find this community helpful.
