Hi all, since we need to look out for eachother and all have bills to pay I thought it might be nice to make a thread to serve as a directory of autistic owned businesses, and autistic allied businesses where profits go directly to the care of an autistic person. Whether that's a big or small business or self employed. Here is a short list I have collected so far:Pin badges (Pawsitive Pins, UK based)https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PawsitivePins
Stim/fidget Toys (Fidgety Fingerz, UK based)https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/FidgetyFingerz
Cards (owned by NAS75030)www.etsy.com/UK/shop/deadgooddoodles Sensory Direct (ear defenders, weighted blankets, etc)https://www.sensorydirect.com/
Lanyards, pins, bangles, keyrings (DoodleBeth)https://www.etsy.com/shop/Doodlebethshop
Know another autistic owned or autistic allied business? Pls add it below... VMy DMs are also open to everyone so if you run an small business or are self employed yourself and afraid of falling foul of rule 8 then you can send me the link privately and I can share it here.
You are very welcome! I’ll keep looking too!
That's great. :D Thanks for getting in touch with them. I'll have a look for more to add to the list.
Hi Bees
I have received a reply from Autistic Revolution magazine:
Here it is:
’We are so pleased youve chosen AR to showcase ND affirming buisness as one of our main core values is to raise ND voices and their buisness.’
In fact, compiling such a list has been one of our to do jobs which we haven't gotten around to doing it yet.(smile)
This would feature in every issue which would evolve over time to reflect whats out there.‘
Ver exciting! This is all thanks to your brilliant initial idea!
I have just contacted the Autistic Revolution magazine via Facebook, thanks to autistic hyper focus!
🐝 Bees 🐝 (they/them) Autism resources in bio #stoptheshock #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs said:even if submissions are closed rn they may open up again for future publications in which case they could keep hold of the idea to use later.
Exactly! I am just waiting for a response!
You are very welcome! Are you enjoying your degree?
Oh and that would be ausome if you could get in touch with them, even if submissions are closed rn they may open up again for future publications in which case they could keep hold of the idea to use later.
I actually didn't know about the magazine and if I had known about it and how it is autistic led I would have suggested it myself, so I'm grateful it has been brought up.I'm in BA illustration btw in answer to your question. :)
Yes of course I can do this. I just think it is better to publish this list in content or a magazine that is autistic led as the NAS is not.
Also, the entire purpose of this directory is to support and celebrate our neurokin so I think it makes sense and is important to reflect this in regards to who we share it with.
I shall try and contact Autistic Revolution via Facebook but I should just tell you that I think the time period for submissions has closed. I can still ask though.
I shall tell you when I receive a reply.
I hope you enjoy your return to university, what are you studying?
That would be really good. I am soon to lose a lot of free time when I go back to Uni though, so I wanted to get the ball rolling with this now so that others can take over and add their own contributions to help it grow and grow. If someone knows who to get in touch with for the magazine then it would be cool if they could put it forwards as an idea.
You are very welcome! You have definitely come to the right place (this autistic community) for promotion and interest in your books!
As your books cover neurodivergence and disability, would you consider posting about your business on the Scope disability community forum?
I am sure you would reach an ideal audience this way:

Absolutely! I hope your ambition for your books to be stocked in schools becomes a reality!
Hi again Bees
We seem to share a passion for our autistic community, would you agree? Also, just another thought, the directory we are compiling could be featured in the Spectrum magazine or another soon to be published magazine called Autistic Revolution:

What do you think?
Schools for sure, start the education where it's needed! If all our young ones can learn about differences hopefully we can start normalising them.
Oh brilliant. What's the dream, to be used in schools or to be stocked in stores?
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for your support!
I've sent the link to a friend, she has kids in that age range so the books will be perfect for them.

Very exciting! Hopefully your book will be stocked!

Absolutely! You are obviously very busy!
s08 said:The BSL book is called Bruno and His Forest of Friends and it follows a bear into the forest where everyone needs a little extra help!
Good luck with this book, I hope it receives great reviews!
Thank you! Feedback has been amazing from parental communities and school settings, I've had almost 100 orders which is crazy!
