Poetry thread

I quite like writing poetry and so I thought I'd start a thread - please post your poems here. The first one I want to share is one I posted on another thread recently, about autistic people being typecast.

It's called "I don't wanna be typecast"

I don't wanna be typecast, I'm not a Tinpot

Unimportant, inferior or worthless, I'm not.

I'm not a savant, no genius IQ

But I'm not stupid, I can learn stuff too.

Don't think there is no emotion there

I have empathy, consideration and care

I don't wanna be typecast, no matter what we do

We're all individuals, I'm me and you're you

  • I've never tried poetry, but here's something:

Seas of wheat awave and shade aplenty,
    Streams glittering, ducks paddling gently,
Eaten by machines, colours falling to ground,
Flows more angry, winds swirl around,

Night draws in and views diminish,
Twigs abound, a year prepares to finish,
A fluffy clouded dream gone to rain,
    Autumn beckons winter, come again.

  • Today's poem is inspired by the thread about autumn on this forum.

     "Autumn"

In autumn the Autie runs out of town

Into fields, under trees, looking up and down

Hearing crunching as you walk, on crisp new fallen leaves,

Seeing all their colours, is a joy you can't believe

  • Here's another one, about bonfire night as it's 5th November today.

Don't wanna remember the 5th of November

For me, fun and frolics it's not

Don't like the noise, don't like the smoke

although others do like it a lot

Don't like it when fireworks whizz, bang or pop

Lights in the sky I don't wanna see

A sparkler won't entice me out into the cold

I just wanna watch my TV

  • That's a really wonderful poem. I used to like writing poetry when I was young, haven't tried it in a long time. Looking forward to reading more!
