Is music your voice?

I was hoping that perhaps there are others out there that have used music to convey their feelings/thoughts?

When I was younger I would use songs to express my feelings to girlfriends a lot when words would fail me, I would tell them to listen to a certain song.
To express love, to say sorry etc.

Another one, I listen to certain song/songs on repeat for hours if I’m feeling strong emotions.

  • New guitar today but I need to be more careful l this time snd test throuaghly and not buy one that needs a full set up and repair job as my last one I never even made even on it when I sold it due to it being too expensive to fix

think this year is the year I’ll find an open mic night and perhaps I’ll even post a video to my swifite friends i have made

  • I use music, especially through headphones phones to help regulate how im feelings and isolate from external noise.

  • When I was younger I would use songs to express my feelings to girlfriends a lot when words would fail me, I would tell them to listen to a certain song.

This was something I did in my late teens to a degree, but I later learned to be more aware of my emotions so was able to better articulate about them and not resort to using second hand expressions like song lyrics.

The feedback I got was that it felt much more authentic and genuine.

There is quite a detailed article on this emotional intelligence here:

  • Absolutely yes. I've always used music as my voice for the past 20 years. I always feel like using music as my voice was the only way to show my feelings or even just be heard

  • I used to, but I've stopped now, because others don't get the same feelings as I do, people listen to music differently and what they hear is different too. Some people hear the whole composition, others will concentrate on one or more instruments, others the vocals and some will listen to the lyrics. One of the other reasons I stopped doing this is because so many people seem unable to listen and have to talk over music, even when you've asked them to listen because it's important to you, I wish they'd just slap me in the face because it wouldn't feel any less of a denial of the importance of my feelings.

Some music that I find beautiful others find really sad, either because thats what it evokes in them, or because they know it's called a requiem, so they think thats how they should feel. There's some music that others love that I find horrible to the point where I can't listen to it, or it reminds me of a painful episode in my life.

  • 100 percent yes

ifnim angry “ohhhh look what you made me do”

if im feeling anxious “night after night my heartbeat shows the fear”
