Before my account is deleted I want to say don't let yourselves be put in boxes according to the so called experts and specialists.
Also do your part to defeat the insulting stereotypes and cliches, prove you're better than they think you are and don't be scared of life.
Be the best you can be no matter what you do.
And interests don't have to be special, they're just things that you're really into and make life worth living and there's nothing weird about that.
Yeah, I realised that I don't want to wear the label Autistic any more.
If I have to explain an autism related gaffe (assuming I notice it!) I currenlty prefer "Eccentric" or I may try "I'm apparenlty a bit what they call neurodiverse, sorry about that".
Plus everything that Number said a bit further down thread....
Don't worry, I got what you meant, I was just adding my own little angle of entry to the same thought destination. Hopefully I didn't offend, sometimes my 'yes, and'-ing goes a bit awry!

Mmm…..‘don’t be scared of life’ ……..that’s pretty much my biggest problem (being scared of SO many aspects of life). I’m basically at my best in nature with just my ‘nearest and dearest’ people with me. The rest of life (society, jobs, people) - I’m just no good at.
I mean when "special" is used in a patronising or insincere context.
