And what do you wish they would stop doing/saying?
I wish they knew that we aren’t all like Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. I wish they would stop saying things like “everyone is a little bit autistic” as it effectively (if not intentionally) downplays the struggles we face on a daily basis.
I wish they knew how hard socialising is for us. I isn't that we don't care, it is just too difficult and confusing and stressful.
Yeah. I try to give some leeway cos I don't want to be all "us vs them", but it can feel impossible.
Great point!
I wish they would take time to get to know us all not be so judging which a lot can be sadly.
Great discussion!
There are some points I wish to make on this topic:
Yeah, that can be frustrating. Not least when they expect US to see things from THEIR perspective, but they aren’t willing to do the same in return.
I need them to listen and try and understand things from my perspective, because that's what I would do for them. It's just basic respect, really.
I wish they understood how hard we are trying just to get by, and that we can be really good friends if they'd let us.
