I had a call with my GP with going right to choose she agreed and said she sent the referral but the right to choose people have not received the referral and I emailed my GP surgery they insisting they sent it so I'm contemplating on just going private whatever the result maybe.
Psychiatry UK are a provider for the NHS so the diagnosis would be valid anyway. For ASD, it wouldn't matter if it was private or not, but if you get assessed for something that might need medication, like ADHD, if you don't have a referral from the NHS you won't be able to get an NHS prescription until you jump through several hoops. My friend is still waiting for hers as she struggles to complete paperwork.
Thank you, I am thinking of getting assessed privately under psychiatry uk, and the whole assessment is online (which I am sceptical) but even with right to choose the assessment would have been online. I'm researching if the NHS will accept the diagnosis if it comes back positive by puk
Just to chip in - I went private and don't regret it at all! it cost me £1,300 but I'd say it was worth it. I've not bothered going for an NHS one, I don't feel I need it. My employer accepted my private one and imagine nearly everywhere else would too. It only took about 2 months too!
It was all done online so they don't even have an excuse of it going missing. I am going private
I tried through Clinical Partners, but its just impossible to get through to my GP.
Hi, I was diagnosed privately (as i was moving countries too much to ever make it to end of waiting list) via Sara Heath. https://www.shropshireautonomy.co.uk/autonomyplus/pre-diagnosticIt’s a 2 step process, where Sara does a pre diagnostic assessment and writes a detailed report- if she believes you are autistic you can go see a consultant psychiatrist who will do an assessment and who can provide a formal diagnosis. The psychiatrist has experience in diagnosing asd for NHS and the diagnosis is fully recognised. I had a good experience and it was also affordable.
Who are you going to for RTC? I've gone to Psychiatry UK for my ADHD assessment, but they are currently at capacity ( I was looking and got my referral in before that) and they aren't currently taking on new referrals so that may be why it was missed.
There were a lot of pretty shady things that went into that programme (if it's the same one), so I wouldn't take it at face value.
I'm sure there's a thread here about it.

royal mail is pretty much failing these days and is instead a go between and other parcel companies deliver royal mail stuff sometimes, even letters.... and a very dodgy parcel company that loses all your mail and parcels is used by royal mail to deliver your letters and stuff at times lol so theres a higher chance than ever for mail to be lost due to using dodgy private delivery companies
I have been waiting going on 4 years for this assessment, local team has no one to do the assessment so asked for right to choose. I am fed up with the wait. But I will try to be patient and give it a few more weeks.

I would give it a bit more time.... but I appreciate that you just want to get things moving; however, a little patience could save you a lot of money.
