I read Fingers in the Sparkle Jar and saw Chris P live in Southampton a few years ago talking about the book and his autism.

He grew up in a working class family in Southampton whilst I was growing up in a working class family in Portsmouth (the two cities are closely aligned).

He was fascinated by everything living, I was fascinated by insects.

Decades later I discovered that I was so short-sighted I would have been born with very poor eyesight.

I didn't get my 1st glasses until 10.

Now I realise that my fascination with insects is because they were the only living creatures I could see properly.

So did I, I really enjoyed it particularly the parts where he wrote about himself in third person. What did you think of the book?

I agree.

I enjoyed it but found the poetic bits rather heavy going.

Superb writer though.
