You need understand that the world is not always black and white and that all actions can be interpreted and intended in different ways. In kindness their is always darkness and in darkness their is always kindness.
Being brutally honest can be an act of kindness, but it also carries darkest truths that people do not wish to acknowledge about themselves. Sometimes people need to hear the truth to make a positive change but there is a time and place that we have to respect. not everyone is ready to acknowledge their short comings and some individuals need to work through it and come to the conclusions themselves.
Yes, being direct is easier for some, you know where you stand with other but not everyone is the same way.
