.... Events that  that are actually current. Why dredge this knee jerk muck up?

This post was started so long ago ad has mold growing out it's ears. For Pity's sake end the joke! Has it not taken up enough air and head space already. Really, end the joke. There are far more pressing issues if one wants to dabble in current events.

... and I can’t imagine what the world would be like if we didn’t have the opportunity  to air our views and opinions ~ it’s what makes our world what it is. And I for one value and appreciate anybody who takes an interest in politics because it’s all a bit too much for me, so I rely on others getting involved to inform me, so regardless of a person’s views, if they’re interested in politics and especially to the degree they take a stand, I support them and I particularly love people who can separate the politics from the person ~ thank you ~ you make my world a better place

In my night time awakeness last night, I was messing  on the computer and a news item popped up, which I never usually click on, but I did last night and it said that the government in Russia are stopping their internet being connected to the outside world, despite a very low percentage of the people agreeing to it.

That’s the kind of world we get when people don’t like, welcome, celebrate and encourage different views, opinions and lifestyles. You go girl (or boy ) and make no apologies ~ even if our opinions etc change, so what, we have a right and an absolute necessity to express ourselves, just where we are, at any given time. That’s how we learn, understand and grow

Thank you BlueRay,  I appreciate your kind advice and will plan ahead should I go to London. I agree, we should all stand up for our views and opinions. I do not wish to upset people or offend, not even Trump. I dislike his politics, not the person.

Still doesn’t make any sense and you do not say why you put it up in the first place. Your choice but seemed to be putting some kind of point across?

 I wanted to understand your thinking as I like to be enlightened before making a decision about things.

Don’t worry NAS7898, the feelings/opinions were already there and it’s good that you brought it up as it is important that you get to express yourself and your opinions, it’s very important, and as I said previously and as others have said, just plan ahead, have an escape route for if things get too hectic and plan for recovery time as well and I’m sure it will all be fine. Just know before hand that’s it’s probably going to be stressful but we can’t avoid all stressful situations but we can plan for them. So think about food and drink as well, keeping warm/keeping cool, that sort of thing and have somebody with you, if you can, who is aware that you may need to escape without a moments notice and plan your down time and processing time for after the event. And be proud of yourself and never sorry, for expressing what’s important to you. I trust you will have a good day and it won’t be too much for you. 

Hello all, yes this was a genuine post and I am sorry to have brought up so many different opinions. I will have to plan more about going to any planned protests but I feel it is important to voice my opinions.

Personal opinion on trump, 

Successful businessman - Yes

Successful president - who knows 

Guilty of spreading false information that vaccinations cause autism and that autism is an epidemic - yes

I am personally not a fan but does that mean I would protest him - no 

I suggest you start to look into Carbon Credits and the billions of $$$ disappearing. 

CC is now a religion for politicians all stealing money from the taxpayers - like HM Queen being given the seabed land in our waters - so all offshore windfarms pay their ground rent to her - and we pay over the odds for this 'green' energy.  Nice earner if you can get it.

China is still building dirty coal fired power stations - while we close our 'clean' ones to artificially inflate our electricity prices.  Crazy.   It's really way too much to type here.

I could go on and on - but, as you say, most people 'know' the facts so there's no point being rational.

Maybe he would prefer a discussion, not an argument? I know I would. I don’t understand why people want to argue, I just don’t understand it. My logical brain can’t find any logic in it but that’s not to say it’s wrong or anything, just that some of us prefer not to argue. I trust you’ll find somebody on the same wavelength as you and that you can enjoy a good argument - I’m presuming the person you find to argue with will have to be in support of the big man, for it to work  ???? Or maybe not, I’m not sure how these things work. Best of luck though.

 Broad generalisations about most people in the UK not knowing the truth.  Certainties about most Americans based on a kind of ipse dixit argument along the lines of 'I go out there a lot, so I know.'  And someone who dismisses climate change as a scam.

I think the problem with this issue, as with so many others (Brexit comes to mind!) is that there are no grey areas in people's thinking.  No doubts.  You're for it or you're against it.  You love him or you hate him.  And everyone will come up with their arguments to support their positions and counter the other arguments, and so on and on and on and on it will go.  No one will look to discuss the complexities and finer points and head towards some kind of truth or consensus.  All people will do is bring up more things to justify their opinions and counter the others, and keep their entrenched positions against all costs, because concession = humiliation.

At the end of the day - media distortions and everything else aside - people just believe what it suits them to believe.  It's about money in your pocket now.  Or it's about a future for your kids.  It's the economy.  It's social justice.  It's immigration.  It's diversity and multiculturalism.  These arguments never get anywhere at all.  So I agree with Pixiefox, it's probably a good idea not to get involved.  Better things to do with our time.  Than argue and argue (and I accept my role in it), which takes no one any closer to anything, except high blood pressure.  There's an old saying, that can be applied in a broader context, that you will never persuade a person to believe something if their salary (or self-esteem) depends upon them not believing it.  We all have our interests to protect.  Even if it's simply what we choose to believe is the 'truth'.  Cognitive dissonance, anyone?

So carry on.

And this isn't backing out because I can't argue my points and provide my own evidence (rather than hearsay from friends or generalisations).  It's backing out because it's pointless.  Believe what you will and do what you will.  And have fun.

There are a whole load of 'Resist' activists spamming just about every forum on the web with this type of message. 

The typical rent-a-mob will be there with their identical printed 'spontaneous' placards - Soros will be paying for troublemakers as usual.   Free legal representation for anyone prepared to be arrested.  All so brave with their masks on.

All very childish and embarrassing for this country.   Nothing like dignity now. 

I hope that this is a genuine enquiry and not an attempt to stir up everyone on this forum into arguments, like the thread supposedly about Brexit appeared to be. 

Dear NAS7898, if you really do want to join in with this then nobody has the right to tell you not to as we have freedom to protest in this country, however be careful as it could be a dangerous situation for you. Make sure you stay safe.

I would not attend any demonstration or rally as I could not deal with the stress. And I personally think that flying a huge balloon of a "Trump baby" is just silly and embarrassing. But I was brought up to be polite, as was the queen. I'm neither a fan of her or Trump, but I don't actually know either of them and they are both heads of state of their nations, so I'll stay out of it.
