At my last meeting with the Nurse practitioner at my old address she mentioned autism in relation to things I told her and gave me a sheet about a local autism charity. However she also said that things might be explained by schizotypal.
I am wondering what people think about the overlap and differences between ASD and schizotypal. How many have gone in for an ASD assessment to be told they are schizotypal? How many are seen as being both ASD and schizotypal ?
I'm always scared. Has nothing to do with anyone but myself.
I think what makes it worse is the letters they send. They should come with what will happen at the appointment. So my mind doesn't wander.
What's the worst that can happen?
I am locked up and the key is thrown away.
Please know that locking you up and throwing away the key isn't an option.
No medical professional will ever lock you up and throw away the key.
Even in prison, the key is never thrown away.
I think the reason they often don't detail what will happen at the appointment is because it's confidential and individual to each patient.
It is difficult not knowing what to expect but please know that a lot of mental health professionals are very good and want to help. They will have no intention of locking you up and throwing away the key.
I can understand having irrational fears, I have my own. If possible try to think of other appointments you've had, it is likely to be similar to those.
I have only ever seen a counsellor. They may have been a mental health nurse in disguise.
I plan to tell my uncle I have an interview. And call sometime before.
Thanks for your councel
