I have a 35 year old son who is struggling in these difficult times and is terribly lonely. He doesn’t accept he has autism and won’t go to the Doctors to get help with his depression and anxiety.
He would love to meet a friend to share activities and time with, as his anxieties prevent him going out on his own. My husband and I try our best, but he really needs someone closer to his own age as he doesn’t like “hanging out with the parents”. He has many interests and hobbies, mainly around his home. He loves woodlands and often seems happiest walking amongst the trees.
Any help greatly appreciated,
Carrie.
Dear NAS68521,
There is some information for autistic adults about making friends on our website which includes tips and suggestions - you can find that here.
You could also contact your local NAS branch for information about local groups or activities - you can find your local branch here: https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/local-branches?searchTerm=Surrey&postalcode=&radius=0
Or search our Autism Services Directory for social groups in your area.
I hope that helps.
