Boat Trips- Advice Please!

I wonder if anyone can give me advice about putting on a boat trip, along a river that would be suitable for mainly children (but also adults) with Autism. Following feedback we have already had, we are avoiding loud noises (such as the commentary and traffic) and having lots of sensory expereinces on the boat i.e. soft blankets, feathers. Also limiting numbers so the trip doesn't feel crowded and ensuring passengers can get off the boat at spots along the trip, rather than feeling 'trapped' until the end. The trips are expected to last 40mins.

I'd be very grateful for any advice!

  • Hi NAS36397,

A quick Google search turned up several charities which specialise in Boat Trips for the disabled, for example The Nancy Oldfield Trust (Norfolk) or The Canal and River Trust (Leeds and Liverpool). If you contact these charities they may have more specialist advice for you, or there may be a similar Charity in your local area who you could perhaps even book your trip through as they will be knowledgeable and experienced in organising these sorts of things?

    Best of luck.
