I know that this may sound strange, but have you ever thought about what your theme music could be, if your life was a TV show?
I think that mine would be Up! by Shania Twain, especially the chorus:
Up, up, upCan only go up from hereUp, up, upWhere the clouds gonna clearUp, up, upThere's no way but up from here
Hello, thanks for posting this.
Mine is 'Outdoor Miner' by Wire. I've loved it since hearing it as a lad, but it's only in the past few years that I've worked out what it's *really* about.
Good band. Like any other Post Punk bands?Paid tha cost to be the boss by James Brown would be my theme music. Because i enjoy self deprecation.
Haha yeah I like the idea though I always said that if I ever saw him out and about somewhere (highly unlikely I know), I would probably cross to the other side of the road!
You're right mate. I do love that and i will spend hours there at some point. The alternative is trying to interact with the public afterall! haha. Maybe we can summon Mark E Smith's ghost to be our collective best friend?
By the way, in case you didn't know, there's an excellent site that analyses every Fall lyric, or tries to. http://annotatedfall.doomby.com/ Warning though - you can spend hours there!
The Light Pours out of me.
Can't go wrong with Joy Division. Magazine influenced a lot of 80s stuff I think. I think that 'Correct Use Of Soap' was the first one that I bought though a few years after it came out.
Said it purged fear.
I got into Magazine through Mansun being influenced by them.
Joy Division are my all-time favourite band.
"Where's the cursor, where's the eraser?". Excellent stuff! Thanks for reminding me of it.
What's a computer?
Eat yerself fitter!
No i don't have that yet. John Peel was a great guy.
It's probably mine too. Have you got the Peel Sessions box set? That's probably my favourite thing of all of theirs.
Perverted By Language is my favourite Fall album.
Ah ok, you know 'Frenz' then! Some excellent artists that you mention too. Magazine are/were particularly underrated I think.
A few years ago my nephew, who is officially diagnosed as autistic, started listening to The Fall one day on a streaming service. He rushed to tell my sister what he'd found and how good it sounded. She then texted me to ask if I'd been listening to The Fall on their computer, but I hadn't touched it. Sadly he didn't really follow up his interest. He was only about 7 or 8 at the time I think. I didn't really know what to make of it!
I adore Mark E Smith and The Fall. Also Gang Of Four, Magazine, Joy Division, The Duruttti Column. I've left some people out. Big into music and collecting it.
Loads! Too many to mention. 'Frenz' is a track by The Fall - another possible theme tune!
Cabaret Voltaire, PiL, Sisters Of Mercy, things like that. Anything non-saccharine!
How about you?
Another good choice!
