I am in a caravan (week on holiday) currently watching match of the day (not my choice) with my 2 year old who won’t go to sleep! Earlier I went to Wroxham barns with my 5 year old and bought souvenirs in the gift shops, went in the animal farm part and had afternoon tea with my 5 year old. I just wondered what everyone else is doing this weekend?
I'm pretty much housebound with my maladies. However i have been lucky enough to aquire the Woodfall British Cinema boxset over christmas. I think i'll watch A Taste of Honey first. I saw Look Back In Anger on the beeb recently and loved it. I loved and identified with Richard Burton's character.
I'm sure that I've caught the end of 'Look Back In Anger'. I'll keep an eye out for it. Have you ever seen 'Villain'? Richard Burton is excellent in that.
I have not, Any good? He is great in the film version of Equus too.
I managed to follow what's current up until about the age of 30, then i just gave up and retreated to mining the past for cultural inspiration.
Oh blimey, not that new then! I stopped around the mid-80s so I've got a bit of catching up to do.
2000. So twenty years old now.
No I haven't I'm afraid, that's quite a modern film isn't it?
The dreaded notification bug strikes again When will we ever be free of it?!
Sounds good mate. I like gangster films. Ever seen Sexy Beast? I'm very fond of that.
Apologies Former Member, I've been a victim of the notification bug that you mentioned elsewhere. Villain is a gangster film and Burton plays the lead character called Vic Dakin. He really convinces as a menacing and sadistic crime boss ruling by fear. It's quite an influential film I would say. TV series like The Sweeney and Special Branch towards the end follow on from it if that means anything to you. I've not seen Equus but will check it out.
