Hello All

Hello all,

I am a 54 year old female who got diagnosed with ASD in 2014.  I have unusual interests that are not typical for my gender such as astronomy, space exploration, meteorology, sci-fi and the superhero comic book TV and film genre as I have problems in reading fiction and even as a child I would rather read an encyclopedias and other types of reference books.

Please can any one tell me where I can locate my community profile?

Thank you

  • Hi, I'm in your position too, I'm on a 15 month waiting list, and freaking out about getting the diagnosis becauseI really need the help! Though I joined yesterday and already feeling much better reading everyone's accounts and I actually for once feel like I relate to people! Hope this forum helps you too while you're waiting :)

  • The first thing to do is to make a journal of your symptoms as well as write a childhood to adulthood history.  it's good idea to get help in this process with anyone who knows you well when you were a child and it does not necessarily have to be your parents or siblings but others such as cousins, friends, professionals etc.  The most important thing is to get much evidence as possible to present to  take to your GP.  Never go on your own but always go with someone knows you well even if they are professional.  Get help from an independent advocacy agency such as DIAL.  You can have autism and mental health problems as they are linked and you may have to go through the mental health pathway to get an adult autism diagnosis.  I hope this is of benefit to you.
