Hello everyone, diagnosed yesterday with autism and hypermobility, I am looking forward to joining this community and sharing experiences... it’s been a strange journey, my head is buzzing today!
I'm self-diagnosed on both fronts, so it's been a case of a lot of internet research to find out what was going on! Yes, there seems to be overlap with quite a few health conditions on this forum actually. My sister had 'joked' that i was on the spectrum for years, but the hypermobility was harder to figure out.
Much love <3
Thanks for the tip, how does eds affect the eyes? Yes, the lady who assessed me said there is a link between ASD and EDS in that they often occur together
thanks for this, yes, I have stopped telling people now, will wait until I have a better idea of what I am saying.
Thanks RSxo This forum is very helpful...it’s been a strange week for me!
The eyes, well as your ligaments are more " floppy" they don't hold the eye as well as they should., If you get what looks like conjunctivitis you should get it checked as there is something with the membrane that looks like an infection but isnt, we are more likely to get glaucoma and retinal years also I can't remember what it's called but the lens gets thin and bulges. Remember you are not necessarily going to get these but there is a slightly greater chance that you will do you need to look after your eyes.
Thanks so much, will definitely mention this on my next test...
It's not just what you are saying, just find time to get to a place where you feel right about it all too. Best to be settled into the whole situation. I found it a strange period of time just after being diagnosed. You'll work out what's best for you though, no doubt of it!
