Place 100g rice in a pan along with 200ml water.
Put some chopped vegetables on the top.
Add lip.
Bring to boil.
Reduce to simmer.
Cook for as long as packet instructs.
Remove lid, take out food. The rice will have absorbed all the water and the vegetables will have deliciously steamed.
Enjoy!
This works best in the oven. It's called braised rice! Same principle, but you do it an oven proof dish and cover with tin foil. Take a bit longer but is nicer finish.
I have eaten this every day for lunch for the last 6 months and intend it to continue being my main daily meal until I die. I find it takes more than 200ml water and about 4 times as long as the packet says to get the vegetables fully cooked to the point where I can digest them though.
That sounds delicious. I look forward to giving it a try :)
Oh, I see.
If it's plain rice, I wash and rinse it in cold water first.
There is a lot of info online on how to get the perfect rice without screwing it up. You described the healthiest and easiest method to prepare rice mixed with vegetables. Usually, I cook chicken and rice because it's more nourishing with an extra dose of protein. From now on, I will steam vegetables with rice to get more vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, such as antioxidants and fiber.
