Hi fellow Aspies!
I'm a university student (with ASD) in my third year studying design, and I'm researching how I can make mobile apps better for people with neurodivergence (ASD, Dyslexia, ADHD etc). Would anyone be interested in taking part in an online study to help my research?
Just seeing if anyone would be interested ! (:
I'm interested! I have dyspraxia and I'm waiting for my autism diagnosis
apps should have alarms. calendars, reminders, be structured to do regular tasks
As someone recently diagnosed yet 30 years computer experience then I can only emphasise the following:-
There needs to be a focus on simplicity for all, founded in the software requirements with a variety of users/stakeholders involved from the start.
I really like that. This stuff is real and matters!
At a previous job on an IT project, the powers that be decided to hire a Document Writer who basically spent her whole time transforming all of our project document templates from features on the left of your chart to features on the right. After this, I found the templates almost impossible to use and would feel physically ill just looking at them.
Everyone else on the team pretended (I think) to be enthused so I just went along with it, but it made my job, which was already stressful, a lot harder. She was a nice person, just really “loud” and not right for the role. It also really annoyed me that she was on the same pay grade as me and making a dog’s dinner of everything whilst I was solely responsible for delivering the finance work steam which accounted for over 85% of the organisation’s total income (so not particularly important work LOL).
You’re welcome.
Please do. By the way, I only have a MacBook and an iPhone in case that matters.
Thank you
This might be useful...
Hi Dave! I'm in the middle of designing the study now, any input would be greatly appreciated!
As a research doctor and computer nerd I am interested not only in taking part but how you will design the study. I have ASD
I too had wondered about using this forum for research, but realise there will be various biases (as there is in all research)
Hi DuckBread! Everyone is welcome to take part in the study! I will send you the details as soon as it is finalised!!
Hi HollowMan, it is just a short online questionnaire, so about 20–30 questions! Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to complete (:
Thank you so much, that would be really amazing!
Hi Nessie, thank you!! I am still in the process of writing the study, so I will send you a link as soon as it is completed!
Thank you so much! I'll have a look at the brain in hand app, it sounds interesting!
Hi Are you looking for people with a formal diagnosis? I'm still on the waiting list.
Feel free to private message me with some details about the study (if you're happy for me to take part).
Hello,
I have a diagnosis of ASD. This sounds really interesting, yes I would take part in an online study. Have you seen the Brain in Hand app? I believe that is designed for people with neurodivergence although I haven't used it personally.
I'm interested, but I'd like to know more details on what's expected of participants. Particularly the time investment aspect.
i only use a pc - can i use it using windows 10 on a laptop - if yes i can test it for you - thats my job
Hi Cactus,
I have a diagnosis of Asperger’s and would be happy to help.
Feel free to send me a private message if you need to exchange contact details.
