26 and just been diagnosed.

Hi, I've never been on a forum before so not too sure how this works. I'm 26 years old and was diagnosed with Autism this week, I'm feeling totally confused and have no idea what to think or what I'm supposed to do now as I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder years ago so have always thought that was it, so this being a big change is a lot to get my head around and would really appreciate it if anyone has any advice for me on what to do now.

Thank you.

  • I'm a little older than you and have recently been diagnosed. It's hard to take in when your first diagnosed especially if you weren't expecting it.

My advice is take your time. Your going to be up and down for a while about your diagnosis. Read up on it. Theres plenty online and lots of books. Post any questions you have on here. People are really helpful and you quickly realise that others feel the same way you do and have similar behaviours etc.

Talk about it. If you don't have anyone you feel you can talk to about it then come on here. Post your feelings.

Think about what you want to do now. Is this going to change things for you or is it a matter of adapt, accept and carry on? Do you work or anything like that?
