So this is a place to share the good things that happen in our lives. They don't have to be huge even little tiny good things are good.
I saw Mars near the moon for days before, and should be able to see it still. The lunar eclipse was completely covered by cloud where I was, though.
No blood moon here either. Nor any sightings of Mars.
Lack of sleep is a bummer. Here it is getting a bit warmer....
DC when I saw that you'd posted on this thread just I laughed because I knew that you would have been posting about the weather! I was right! I have been so happy today myself. It's been so much cooler today. I was going to make my post so:
I got 9 hours sleep, slept again for an hour this evening. I phoned a few friends and was in good spirits. I was getting about 3 hours sleep max during the heatwave. Things were starting to feel strange!
The moon was good and everything but the relief of at least a small break in the heat is better than anything!
...Greetings! As soon as I found out upon Thursday that there would be a "Blood Red Moon" upon Friday (Yesterday)... I immediately thought this of such an important Celestial Event being visible from London...: "Great! Finally we shall get some CLOUDS here!" ...And that is exactly what happened. (Go figure.)
...For today, the "good" thing is the proper cooling continuing....
I am alive.
Well, after three attempts I seem to have properly fixed my bicycle puncture and that means I can go home. Despite the cheapo Halford pump failing, I found a compact spare.
And the autistic choir performance went reasonably well, and the rest of the week I was out doing 'non-autistic things'.
Ah, curtain rails.
This is a two-person job, really. You need a compliant assistant to hold things where you tell them to whilst you are marking out dimensions and levels.
Measure, measure, measure again. Don't assume anything is centred, symmetrical, straight or level.
Typically you need one bracket above the middle of the reveal, plus careful thought re: how much length beyond the reveal to left and right, to keep open curtains where you want them.
If the brackets have three screw holes that will be quite close together, you might need to stick with red plugs, a 5.5mm masonry bit, and screws on the larger side of the range.
Use a fresh junior hacksaw blade if you're trimming ends off the curtain poles.
Fair enough re: wall construction, but to me, the biggest picture hook in normal use is https://www.screwfix.com/p/picture-hooks-twin-brassed-100-pack/17238?tc=AL2&ds_kid=92700024374095455&ds_rl=1249481&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=CjwKCAjw7cDaBRBtEiwAsxprXeWmJNvmx8kX_jyo7GCW28txtKl4yiMmvvKBFrax6jNxEqPJ8gtgxBoCVxQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=COakr4CcrNwCFdFk0wod4E0Hdg
For plaster over brick or blockwork, you just hammer the little pins in. Leaves smaller holes in the wall, but admittedly not nearly as much fun as an afternoon with power tools ;o)
I like that. Thank you. I'm new here and waiting for assessment but can relate.
Well done Bethy a big achievement I wish you well and hope you find peace in your new place. Well chuffed for you.
x()x
Bethy, that is brilliant, I am so pleased for you.
I got some summer work, two new courses, though it is something of a mixed blessing as the first is early. I have trouble sleeping often anyway and knowing I have to get up often makes me so nervous I hardly sleep at all. That was the case yesterday and I went the wrong way on the tram. Completely out of it. She was a nice girl. It is good to be visiting grownups at a company again, so the old business English books are getting resurrected.
In two days there will be the annual tipping day, where anyone can throw out anything. Planning to get rid of one or two things in the bedroom, to give me more space, maybe buying a new item or two in their place. Drilling here is a nightmare, concrete walls.
I had an assessment yesterday for a place in supported accommodation for people with Autism and other disabilities and I was accepted! . I have struggled for so long living on my own in this flat that I am in now without any support and being around people who didn't understand my condition, didn't take the time to learn about it and who kept putting me down, such as my ex boyfriend and his friends. I was up all night the night before the assessment writing information down about myself and questions for then. I feel that I have really achieved something .
I have been trying to figure out how to use a power drill to put a curtain rail up in our new flat, so cudos to you .
Today we went to see a house. We were meant to be moving to the Isle of Wight but they sold it to someone else at the last minute. So the house we went to see today is in Wales. It's perfect. So hopefully before Christmas i will be living in Wales.
I went air rifle shooting a few days ago and loved it, looking forward to going again soon
I cleaned the house from top to bottom to prepare for moving next weekend. Unfortunately now the bathroom is a little too bright.
I went in a hot tub bubbly thing today. It was interesting!
