Autistic parents

ive been struggling a lot lately with my daughter. Sometimes she'll cry and I feel like I don't understand her at times. or if she is really loud and demanding attention?

I feel like she doesn't understand me either and we lack communication.

Can anyone relate and how did you cope?

any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  • My youngest 2 are 5 & 6 (can't wait for the older stages, lol) Through the young years, I generally just tell them to go play for a while. For kids when you need some down time, I make messy things for them to play with. If you don't mind the mess that is. Like I make playdough and give them all sorts of things in the kitchen to play with. I make special sand (baby oil & flour mixed) and it is fun, messy and keeps them entertained for a while. I make indoor dirt which is coffee grounds used then baked dry, flour, corn meal, salt mix and give to them to play with tupperware lids and cookie cutters. Anyhow, it is a lot better than plopping them in front of the TV just to get an hour of 'me time'.

  • Hi wow. Everything for me reading this has made sense. I thought it was just me.
