Hi,
I'm looking for advice on how to explain my 7 year olds diagnosis to him, and also for my nearly 10 year old who is awaiting ADOS assessment.
I know there are lots of books available and I'd love some recommendations, but my younger son is very resistant to reading from books. He is a great reader for his age and can understand text when playing screen based games, but show him a book and he's just not interested (he regards all books as boring even if he is interested in the subject).
So as well as book recommendations I'm looking for websites, apps, videos etc that explore autism that would be appropriate for primary age children.
Thank you
Hi NAS16028,
In addition to the links Disallowed Cynosure posted, there is a section here on the NAS site that offers advice about how to explain an ASD diagnosis to your child. Although this is aimed at parents rather than children themselves, I thought it still might be of some help to you. You can find the link here: http://www.autism.org.uk/about/diagnosis/children/recently-diagnosed.aspx#tell

Thank you for your reply. I will go through them properly this evening. I'm glad some digital resources exist.
...Hmm. As I post all of that, each address IS different, yet shows up upon my own EReader as just "m-youtube-dotcom-Fwd-slash-watch". How interesting. Maybe...

Follows are Actual Videos supposedly made for Children themselves to watch. Please view these first yourself, before considering showing them to your children, because every children is different from other children, and children are of differing ages:

You might notice the common word "YouTube", there. Search through all of that, keywording Autism, explain, Children... that sort of thing. Have a look at what is there, and choose what is suitable for your own children.
