Hi there, my name is Leanne. My son Josh has just got a diagnosis at the beginning of January and as much as i read about autism i still don't really know a lot about it. any advice, experiences, stories would be very helpful.
Definitely of some use. Thank you so much =)
Hi Leanne,
You might want to visit a couple of pages here on the site. The 'After your child's diagnosis' page, which you can find here - http://www.autism.org.uk/about/diagnosis/children/recently-diagnosed.aspx - details a lot of practical information about how to manage with school, what financial support you are entitled to, how to approach talking to your son about his ASD diagnosis. There's also a free online booklet called After Diagnosis which you can download here - http://www.autism.org.uk/products/leaflets/after-diagnosis.aspx - that has some of the same information, as well as what services and support are available to you, both from the NAS and elsewhere.
Hope this is of some use,
Best wishes,
Ross - mod
