i have a question for you all if you could have any super powers or gadgets what would it be and what would you do with it? mine would be sans powers (if you know who he is then good for you) and also the ability to take up any hobbies and learn everything about it with ease and i would have some fun but also help people with that power because "with great power comes great responsibility".
Only if you think it is, hypothetical that is. You have inside of you, and not even inside of you, you are the greatest power on this earth, therefore, you already have at your command, the greatest power on earth. Have fun.
I’d like the power to freeze things, freeze situations and people or become invisible so I could observe people to my hearts content. I would do it for fun. I just love observing human beings.
The Scottish Bard, Robert Burns, said exactly that in his 1785 poem 'To A Louse' :
O wad some Power the giftie gie us
To see oursels as ithers see us!
It wad frae monie a blunder free us, An' foolish notion:
What airs in dress an' gait wad lea'e us, An' ev'n devotion!
I’ve been more interested in poetry of late and I have been to a Burns night but I can’t quite yet work out what he’s talking about in the above poem I think I need an interpreter
I second that Martian Tom... the super power of PRE-HINDSIGHT!
I drafted a short novel a few years back - about a bloke who gets killed in an accident and then, in spirit, is given the ability to see what path his life would have taken if he'd made different decisions at crucial stages. Kind of inspired by O. Henry's short story 'Roads of Destiny', in which the protagonist has the choice of three roads to take - and whichever one he chooses, he ends up getting killed by the same bullet, but in different circumstances. I liked that idea... but I wanted it to be less deterministic, and more about each road leading to an entirely different conclusion. Also, it would be a way of looking at that eternal 'What if I'd only done that instead?' question we all grapple with at some time in our lives. Like, what if I'd had my diagnosis as a kid and had been able to get the proper support...
I've been thinking of digging it out and having another look...
