I am a 30 yr old female who has high functioning autism. I have trouble making friends. I would like to meet people who are in the same situation as I am. I would like to know how other people deal with autism on a day to day basis. I would also like some advice on how to go about meeting new people.
I haven't really had much luck, but I don't plan to give up
thank you for your input
thanks for the websites.
Hi, I'm a woman in my thirties and am currently still self diagnosed. I also find it really hard to make new friends due to my general oddness and crippling social anxiety. The only advice I can give you is to keep on trying, eventually you will find someone that you click with. I've found online forums to be quite good. Mumsnet is my favourite due to making me feel like i'm part of a community, just don't ever post on AIBU :)
With regards meeting new people, would a site like Autism Connect (https://autism-connect.org.uk/) be of use?
It would be worth checking (http://www.autism.org.uk/services/local.aspx) to see if NAS has a branch local to you.
You could also try checking this web page:http://www.autismlinks.co.uk/support-groups/
I also have trouble making new friends and so cannot provide any further advice on how to meet new people.
I try to deal with autism on a day by day basis by, in part, trying to do what comes natural to me rather than trying to conform to the societal 'normal'. Frankly, I exist and that is hard enough.
Hi have you had any luck im in the same boat as you and information is very hard to find
