Going Private

Living in a bad area and two of my friends have currently been waiting 2-3 years and no sign of an assessment yet and im prob back of the list now due to waiting so long then getting sent to the wrong person! I know its a lot of money but i do have many reasons to why id like to go private. But looking for some advice between these two places...

the purple house clinic in Glasgow who can see me in June

Or

https://edinburghpractice.com/autism-assessments-for-adults/

And the Edinburgh Practise in well.. edinburgh.. Who can see me in 2 weeks.

I dont know which one is best i emailed them on here but says it can take up to 27 days for a reply so they must be over loaded with emails just now. Can anyone help me decide as i dont have a clue what im looking for.

Ive got a nikon full frame camera body i can sell to get the funds so it will help.. lol.

Thank you :)

  • When in June can they are you?  If it's not a question of speed for you in that at most the end of June is 6 weeks away i would go to the one that is closest to me as less of a journey traveling to a strange place etc would stress me out even more than I would be over the assessment.

Edited to add. Having just looked at both web pages and the rest of their info, if I was to pick one it would be Edinburgh. But then I'm odd and the other web site made me feel uncomfortable.

  • For what I got back from having the right label I think a private assessment is a bargain - my MH issues have disappeared, I've re-gained my confidence etc

I've never heard of either of those companies but if I was in your situation I'd go with the one that could fit me in sooner.

  • Just checked those links & having to pay £1500 of your own money for an assessment seems incredibly expensive. Has your Doctor given any reason for the delay?

I live in Manchester & had my NHS diagnosis last year at age 56, it was subcontracted out to a private company but I only had to wait a few months for the first consultation.

I tried to search for diagnostic services in Scotland & found this link page to a PDF document (Adult diagnostics at the end), not sure if speaking to some of them might prompt ways of speeding up getting a diagnosis on the NHS.

I actually used to live in Edinburgh when I was a student (far too long ago in 1979-1983), I often wish that I had stayed there :)
