Autism Arts Event, a bit about me

Hi all,

My name is David and I was diagnosed with autism when I was 7 and now I'm working as an assistant Psychologist for an autism organisation in Scotland. I'd love to share my whole story, but thats not the point of this post.

Through my position here I am now organising an event celebrating the amazing and unique skills of us with autism. To do this we are hosting an event where we have professional musicians who are autistic, many artists with autism, speakers with autism and more. Its going to be an amazing event but I was wondering if any of you were interested in sharing your art or talent with us?

We can't afford to subsidise travel I'm afraid, so it would be at your own cost to partake, but you are allowed to sell your artworks, tapes of your music or just yourselves while at the event. If you are an artist who wants to partake but cannot travel to the event, we will happily display works on your behalf.

If you're interested, the event will be on the 14th of April in Dundee. If you have a talent and want to share, send me an email on info@autismac.com

Also if you don't have a talent you wish to share, but want to attend the event, also send me an email on info@autismac.com and I will add you to our mailing list once we have more details!

Comment or ask me any questions!

  • Hi Zatanna, we apologise our organisation is based in Scotland so we don't see us doing anything like this near London I'm afraid. We notice there hasn't really been an event like this before, so perhaps after we show it as such a success more events like this will pop up, and they will surely be in the south and London, theres some great organisations there I can think of who have similar principles to us and will hopefully do something like this in the future.

  • Hi Dave, we appreciate that for our friends in England and the south it is quite the travel. I don't believe we will have the technical skills or resources to stream the event to a high standard, however we hope to have media coverage during the event and our own pictures. After the event I will likely make a post to share how our event went and post pictures and videos.

For your art I would love to see it, even if you can't attend in person we will have a display featuring art from autistic individuals around the world and Britain. As well as that we will have a video display featuring art from people who could not attend nor send physical copies of their works. If you're interested send me a pm or email and we can see what we can do!

  • sounds great, but I wish there was something like this near london

  • It is a bit far for me to travel being on the south coast. besides i doubt my stick men art could be considered talent unless i plagiarise Lowery. Are you going to live stream it to facebook or you tube and have you set up a facebook page for the event?
