Christmas Cheer

As an ASD adult, it gives me great comfort to know that the one person who is universally celebrated at this time of year most likely was too.

Consider the below:

I prefer to do things with others rather than on my own :

The elves help somewhat, but I generally prefer delivering the presents myself.

I prefer to do things the same way over and over again :

Very much so: I choose the same date every year

I frequently get so strongly absorbed in one thing that I lose sight of other things.

You try wrapping 26 million million presents in 1 night.

I am fascinated by dates.

There are other dates than December 25th?

I tend to have very strong interests, which I get upset about if I can't pursue.

Listen mate, if I didn’t pursue my special interest, the whole world would get upset.

I am good at social chitchat.

“Ho, Ho, Ho”, is my limit

I like to collect information about categories of things

  • He just wishes more people would believe in him! Slight smile

  • Hahaha @Martian Tom, at last, I broke into a genuine smile :-) I love this whole post but your comment did it for me, probably because I've just come away from my dad basically telling me that me, and thousands of people like me, are just lazy, work shy, draining the system of benefits money and that we just fake it and put it on to avoid going to work, and he ended by telling me to go and get a job! I wouldn't mind but he was the one to ask me what autism is and before I could barely explain a little bit about it, he went on one and said all the above.

However, I can breath again now, with a smile on my face. I nearly forgot to come to this site but not knowing what else to do with myself, I came here and I'm so glad I did. Just reading the different posts on here has given me comfort and this post changed everything. I feel happy again. Thank you music for the mind and everyone else for your comments, you have all cheered me up no end. :-)
